This immersive program pairs ambitious high school and undergraduate students with industry professionals who will guide you through real-world AI projects and cutting-edge research.

Program Overview
Admitted students collaborate with an assigned mentor to create a personalized learning path focused on:
Contributing to an existing SeqHub research project, or
Designing and building a new project aligned with their interests and goals
Through this hands-on experience, you'll gain practical skills in AI development, research methodologies, and collaborative workflows used by professionals in the field. Our mentors bring diverse perspectives and expertise in areas ranging from natural language processing to healthcare applications and multi-agent systems.

High school students (grades 10-12) and undergraduates with relevant programming experience
Demo Day:
Thursday - 9:30am - 11:30am EST
Program Structure

Three weekly 1-on-1 sessions with your assigned mentor (approximately 3 hours total per week)

Weekly Cohort Demo Days (minimum 3 during the program) to present your work and receive feedback from peers and other mentors

Access to a live short course of your choice and its synchronous sessions

Gain insights into AI research Customized learning path tailored to your experience level and project goals

Final project showcase in the last week of the program

Our mentors are active data scientists, machine learning engineers, and researchers at SeqHub Analytics who bring diverse expertise and Nigerian perspectives to AI development. Each mentor leads projects that admitted students can contribute to during their 5-week experience.

Julio Mansilla
Fullstack Developer at SeqHub
A Computer Science graduate from Southern Connecticut State University, Julio has spent over a decade teaching programming and software development to students of all levels—from K–12 to college graduates—many of whom now work at companies like Google, Datto, and other leading tech firms. He helped shape K–12 computer science curriculum in Connecticut as part of the state’s Tech Talent Advisory Committee and currently teaches at Pierrepont School.
Julio’s expertise includes full-stack development, server configuration, deployment workflows, and secure system design. He regularly works with technologies like Docker, remote command line tools, and database-driven web apps using Python and Java. He is the founder of Software Acceleration Labs & Tutoring, where he supports students across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. At SeqHub, he mentors learners through projects that emphasize clean architecture, real-world implementation, and creative problem-solving.

Adejumobi Joshua
AI Research & Data Scientist at SeqHub
A top Computer Science graduate with notable contributions to Natural Language Processing research, Adejumobi's work on the Yoruba Retrieval Augmented Generation project was recognized at the African Natural Language Processing Workshop at the International Conference on Learning Representations 2024.
At SeqHub, she focuses on information retrieval and auditing Large Language Models for bias, including projects that examine how these models respond to racially and gender-coded inputs in healthcare and hiring contexts.

Alexander Ifenaike
Machine Learning Engineer at SeqHub
A First Class Petroleum Engineering graduate and Award-winning researcher who recently received First Place in the Bachelor of Science Category of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International Student Paper Contest for his work on "Optimizing CO₂ Sequestration using Machine Learning"—making history as the first student from the Africa Region to win in this division.
